IOSA Certification of airlines

AIR VALID offers you the list of the airline companies which profit from an IOSA Label and give their IOSA codes.

IOSA is the first audit used worldwide and using harmonized international standards. All companies IATA must have carried out one audit at the end of 2007 and to apply the possible recommendations at the end of 2008 to continue to be member of the IATA. Currently 278 airline companies have completed the IOSA audit, including 121 members of the IATA.
IOSA : Iata Operational Safety Audit, delivered by Iata after checking of the respect of the requirements of a safety reference.
With regards to safety of the aircraft, the professionals take into account the certifications recognized in reference to compelling European and/or international standards .

“The multiplication of the agreements of division of codes led many companies and certain authorities to wonder about the checks necessary between partners of such an agreement. Numbers of them estimated that the detention of a certificate of carrier was not enough and that a direct evaluation was essential. “Following this reflexion, the DGAC required that, as from the year 2000, any French company having a division of codes with a non-community carrier would proceed to the audit of this last in order to be ensured of the respect of the international safety requirements”, underlines Thierry Allain, assistant with the sub-manager of the navigability and the operations at Management of Control of Safety (DCS).

Several authorities having adopted the same step, the number of audits crossed between companies quickly became too important. “Consequently, rather than to leave the companies audit each other, Iata estimated more judiciously that a single audit guarantees the compliance with the jointly defined safety requirements”, continues Thierry Allain.
Thus was the label “Iosa” born. Its interest is of primary importance since when a company, like Air France, was audited successfully and obtains the label “Iosa”, its partners in division of codes have the assurance that it respects the international rules and the best recognized practices of industry. Iosa was imposed to the members of Iata, at the end of 2007.

The Iosa label is valid for a duration of two years. “To obtain it, the companies must make an agreement with a third independent audit organization, approved by Iata, notes Thierry Allain. These organizations, often aeronautical companies of consultants, specifically trained their auditors and have formalized methods of audit."

Each labeled company is registered with the registrar of the companies in conformity with the Iosa standards on Internet site of Iata. Read more …»
