On 1st April 2009, the IATA proclaimed that all 224 of its member airlines are recorded on the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registry. The best part of IATA member airlines fulfilled the IOSA process. Thus IATA is currently working with those airlines unable to make the deadline. IATA is doing so in order to bring those airlines up to the high IOSA standard rapidly. Moreover IOSA standards are presented free of charge to any commercial airline. In addition IOSA is one of the elements making improved safety of record of IATA member airlines. In other word the aim of IOSA is to get better safety. IOSA has won appreciation by governments around the world. . Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Egypt, Madagascar, Mexico, Panama, Syria and Turkey are the countries that have mandated IOSA in national legislation. IOSA is also assisting the airlines to center their safety efforts by lessening redundant and tedious audits. Further more IATA is building on the triumph of the IOSA program to get better safety on the ground.
