IATA, awareness for airlines to take precautions against swine influenza. IATA noted that airlines have increased in line 5 following the advice of the World Health Organization (WHO). Thus the airlines are preparing for a pandemic preparedness. IATA worked closely with WHO in order to develop guidance documents for frontline staff of the airlines as cabin crew, maintenance crew, cleaners team and baggage handlers among others. IATA wishes to recall that even in normal circumstances, airlines have the equipment and measures in place to maintain the cabin environment safe. In addition, IATA has already alerted the airlines in implementing a preparedness plan in the recent avian flu following the WHO recommendations. WHO advises sick passengers to delay their journey and those with symptoms to consult a doctor before travelling.
