Lufthansa merger with Austrian Airlines

As from September 2009, Lufthansa has been granted the opportunity for merger with Austrian Airlines and thus make Austrian Airlines form part of the Lufthansa group. The merger between Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines has been permitted by the European Commission which also granted the contribution to the Österreichische Industrieholding AG (ÖIAG) for the relief of Austrian Airlines restructuring aid.
