Oneworld helps its member airlines, American Airlines and Japan Airlines in their decision to establish a partnership between North American and Asia. Hence in order for that partnership agreement goes ahead, American Airlines and Japan Airlines have applied for anti-trust immunity for the United States Department of Transportation. In addition American Airlines wants to strengthen its partnership agreement with Japan Airlines so as to support Japan Airlines which stays a member of Oneworld in its restructuring.
