The idea of launching Wizz Air was born in July 2003. The first flight took off on 19th May 2004 in Katowice. Wizz Air now has six bases of operation in the region: Katowice, Warsaw, Gdansk in Poland, Budapest in Hungary, Sofia in Bulgaria and Bucharest in Romania, offering flights to 50 destinations. Wizz Air has opened its 7th base in Poznan in January 2008.
Services offered
Wizz Air offers “un modele de service simple”, which means travel without tickets, use of secondary airports (saving time and money), a class with all leather seats, no award seats, and a catering service at the request for a small supplement. Wizz Air offers around 100 routes in Europe.
Wizz Air is committed to offering a fleet of aircraft to the latest technology, including maintenance is performed by the No. 1 maintenance operations around the world such as Lufthansa Technique and SAS Technical Services. We can thus ensure our clients, services of high quality. The Wizz Air fleet consists of 19 Airbus A320 aircraft each with 180 leather seats.
People
At Wizz Air, we believe that its people that make all the difference. Today our airline employs a team of dedicated people from most countries in Europe, such as Hungary, Poland, Holland, Germany, Norway and France, to mention a few. Wizz Air currently employs over 650 people. Wizz Air has a fleet composed entirely of young Airbus A320s with an average age of less than 3 years.
